Origin, reports and selection: choosing between natural and laboratory-grown diamonds at the NOBLIS atelier in Chisinau.
Two origins, a personal choice
A natural diamond forms in nature; a laboratory-grown diamond is created in a laboratory. GIA describes their chemical, physical and optical properties as essentially similar. Their origins remain different and should be clearly disclosed. Lab-Grown does not mean an imitation such as cubic zirconia.
Reading the report
The report for the individual stone provides a starting point for identification. Check the stated origin, report number and described characteristics. IGI issues reports for laboratory-grown diamonds. A document for a stone does not automatically describe the complete jewel or replace agreement on its setting.
The NOBLIS selection
Signature is dedicated to natural diamonds. Where a Lab-Grown option is proposed for a commission, it is discussed separately and explicitly identified. The centre stone, accompanying documents and setting are confirmed before the order. Selection depends on the design and stone availability at the time of consultation.
Compare complete designs
Begin with your preferred shape and proportions on the hand. Compare options with stated origin and specifications alongside the metal and setting. Equal carat weights do not make two rings identical, and a stone price is not necessarily the price of the finished creation.
A choice for a personal jewel
Natural origin, design or a particular configuration may influence your preference. Discuss these priorities with the atelier. NOBLIS approaches jewellery as a personal creation; the decision should not rest on a promise of financial return.
From selection to creation
During your Chisinau appointment, define the diamond, metal, size and setting architecture. The quotation and completion date are confirmed for the chosen design. Begin with the engagement ring collection or a conversation about a bespoke creation.
